Pony assisted therapy in schools and care homes and rehabilitation centres
We operate at a number of schools, visiting on a weekly basis. We like our visits to continue for a period of at least 8 weeks as this helps the pony and child build a bond and gain mutual trust, although every school we have worked for have requested an extension to this period, which we're happy to accommodate.
The therapy itself is used to help with a variety of issues and is designed to promote emotional growth and learning. Our children are identified by class teachers and their SENCO as requiring self confidence development, social interaction problems. Physical therapy is also another area we can help with in a fun and relaxed way. especially for those children whose mobility/health issues make days out almost impossible.
Some recent statistics from one of our inner city primary schools identified that, of the children attending Pony Club, 14/16 (88%) have seen a decrease in their negative behaviours and 12/16 (75%) have seen an increase in their pro social behaviours.
We bring two ponies and each session can last from 20 – 30 mins.
Each session includes 4 children.
Our ponies can help with :
Autism
Anxiety
Anger
Behavioural problems
Low self confidence
Trauma
We can bring along a pony to visit your residents and brighten up their day. They will be talking about it for weeks!
You don't even have to worry about the weather as our ponies can come inside! Don’t worry about any “accidents” they have a special nappy!
